When it comes to capturing effortless Parisian style, few brands deliver quite like Sézane. Known for their commitment to quality and sustainability (all with an unmistakable French girl vibe), Sézane’s collection of clothing and accessories is exactly what you’d expect to find in the most stylish Parisian wardrobes.

Over the years, I’ve picked up a few items myself, and I can tell you, each piece brings something unique, versatile, and downright elegant to my closet.

From classic outerwear to must-have basics, here’s my roundup of the 10 best Sézane pieces that every stylish woman should consider. If you’ve been curious about what to buy from Sézane, this guide’s got you covered!

In this Article…

About Sézane

Created in 2013 by Morgane Sézalory, Sézane is the first French fashion brand born online. Their mission is simple: create high-quality, perfectly-cut pieces that can be worn forever, and eventually passed down—all at the fairest prices. Sézane is driven by responsible production, where everything is produced as accurately as possible. No overproduction, no traditional discounts, no unsold items, just their twice-yearly archives sales.

The brand is also seriously dedicated to sustainability. More than 3/4 of their materials are eco-friendly and 83% of their pieces are certified. As a B Corp-certified brand, they meet rigorous standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

In 2017, they launched their philanthropic program DEMAIN, which has since raised 7 million euros to provide support to dozens of partner organizations and thousands of children.

Sézane has boutiques in Paris, London, New York, and San Francisco, along with several pop-up stores worldwide. And, true to its roots, you can also shop their entire collection online—welcoming a piece of Paris to your wardrobe, while also supporting a women-led and mission-driven company.

Best Sézane Pieces

1. Mederick Coat

The Mederick Coat is the dreamy French coat you’ll reach for year after year. I even featured it in my list of the best wool coats this season! Made from 100% wool—a true rarity for outerwear these days—it feels luxuriously warm and is perfect for layering up as the temperatures drop.

Sézane has several wool coats, but I prefer the wrap style of the Mederick Coat. It’s casual enough for every day over jeans and a sweater but can be easily dressed up with a slip dress and heeled boots. If we’re being honest though, wrap coats can sometimes look a bit like a bathrobe. However, this one is not overly slouchy and keeps its structure. It does run large, so I’d recommend sizing down.

What makes this coat especially timeless and modern are all the little details: the straight fit, tailored collar and buttons on the sleeves and belt. And I can’t not mention all of the beautiful colors this coat comes in. The pistachio green is my absolute favorite, but it also comes in more classic colors like black, camel and sand.

For bundling up on chillier days, Sézane’s Mederick Coat is definitely one to check out.

2. Scott Trench Coat

A trench coat is a staple in any classic French wardrobe, and Sézane's Scott Trench gets it right with every detail. Made from 100% organic cotton, it’s just the right weight for those in-between seasons when you need something light but still substantial. Plus, it’s water-repellent, which is always appreciated on rainy days.

What I love about this trench is how versatile it is. With both buttons and a tie belt, you can wear it open, cinch it for more shape, or keep it simple depending on your mood.

As for styling the Scott Trench, it pairs with just about anything-tailored trousers and a button-up for a preppy and polished look, or a casual tee and jeans for an easy, off-duty vibe.

Whether you prefer navy, camel or khaki, the Scott Trench is one of those pieces that will complement anything in your closet.

I’m currently eyeing this trench as an upgrade for spring, and since I’ll be in Paris in March, I plan to stop by a Sézane boutique to try it on in person again—so excited!

3. Louise Jumper

Cozy, yet chic, the Louise Jumper is a Sézane classic. It really shows what I love most about the brand: how they take timeless pieces and elevate them with unique details. With this jumper, the button placket at the sleeves is so subtle, but instantly makes it stand out from your average crewneck sweater. And the slightly puffed sleeve is just as thoughtful.

This sweater is made from a wool blend that’s it’s incredibly soft and warm without feeling itchy. Keep in mind that there is some polyamide in this piece, but it’s made from mostly natural fibers.

I would pair the Louise Jumper with high-waisted jeans and Mary Janes for a classic French look, but it also works beautifully thrown over a slip dress or with shorts and tall suede boots (like in the photo above!).

4. Gaspard Cardigan

The Gaspard Cardigan might just be the most popular piece on this list. I’ve spotted Sézane’s signature cardigan on so many Francophiles and French fashion fans alike. It’s designed to work both frontwards (as a classic cardi) and backward (to look like a crewneck sweater)—truly a versatile knit.

Made from a blend of mohair wool and alpaca, it’s oh-so-soft yet structured, keeping its shape even after many wears and washes.

It comes in a range of stunning colorways each season—the hardest part will be choosing which one to get! While I love the classics like camel, black, and mottled gray, the brighter hues really brighten up a basic fit, whether you prefer sea green, royal blue, or pastel violet.

Style your Gaspard with skirts, jeans, and even as a top layer over dresses. This is a piece that truly goes with everything and never goes out of style. It’s also light enough to drape around your shoulders on summer nights.

As we head into cocooning season, the Gaspard Cardigan is also a cozy option to wear indoors with your favorite lounge pants. Très chic, très comfy.

5. Tomboy Shirt

The Tomboy Shirt strikes the right balance between feminine and masculine that Sézane does so well. It has a classic fit that’s neither too oversized nor too tight. Made from 100% organic cotton, this shirt is a bit softer than others I’ve tried, which gives it a more relaxed look—thought you could definitely wear it to the office.

It’s versatile enough to wear on its own, layered under a sweater, or even tied at the waist. I wear mine tucked into high-waisted jeans or tailored shorts in the summer.

Besides white, it also comes in blue, striped, and even with embroidered hearts (so cute).

If you’re torn between this and the Will Shirt, the main difference is that the Tomboy Shirt has a regular fit, while the Will Shirt is more oversized. Both ooze classic French style, but the Tomboy is perfect if you're after something a bit more versatile.

6. Conrad T-Shirt

One of my favorite Sézane best-sellers, the Conrad T-Shirt is a cut above your standard tee, with a fabric blend that feels soft yet holds its shape, fitted without being too tight. It’s the kind of elevated basic every wardrobe needs.

To celebrate a decade of their iconic tee, Sézane lowered the price just a little—a good excuse to stock up! It comes in classic colors like white and black, along with a range of other neutral hues.

You can easily style it with almost any of the other Sézane essentials on this list—like tucked in the Loulou Trousers or layered under the Gaspard Cardigan.

A classic white tee might seem simple, but there’s something about Sézane’s approach that makes this one feel special.

7. Brut Sexy Jeans

Effortless denim is a French girl staple, and if you’re searching for that perfect pair, look no further than Sézane’s Brut Sexy Jeans. They truly live up to their name.

These mid-rise jeans have a slightly tapered straight cut with just a little stretch. They definitely aren’t the most flexible instead they have more of a vintage feel: thick, durable, and made from 98% organic cotton and 2% elastane for a bit of movement.

Another thing to note is that they do run on the small side, so if you’re between sizes, I’d consider sizing up! They also come in tall sizes for longer legs. I’m on the taller side, and I sometimes take a longer inseam when I want to wear them with booties or heels.

Style these Sézane jeans with everything from a cozy knit to a tailored button-up. They’re the kind of jeans you can dress up with heels or keep casual with sneakers.

Price: $125 | Features: OEKO-TEX certified, organic material, made in Morocco

8. Loulou Trousers

The Loulou Trousers have that tailored, Parisian vibe that we all love. High-waisted with a gentle drape, these trousers create a super flattering silhouette that pairs well with just about anything.

They would pair perfectly with the Gaspard Cardigan or the Tomboy Shirt, but they also look amazing with heels and a fitted top for a night out. For a preppy suit look, try pairing them with the Chelsea Jacket.

Keep in mind that they have a straight, slightly wide leg that makes them a bit flowy—so if you’re between two sizes, I’d suggest sizing down.

Of course, Sézane does it with the details. The button-fastening loops are such a chic upgrade from your typical trouser. Belted or not, those front buttons make these pants feel perfectly polished.

When it comes to color, Sézane offers so many gorgeous options. I’ve been eyeing the coffee shade—a richer rendition of your classic camel. But, if I was more daring, I’d definitely try the ochre/blue check pattern for winter and into spring!

9. Milo Classic Bag

If you’re looking for a mid-range bag for every day, the Milo Classic Bag is one of the chicest options out there. It’s perfectly versatile with an adjustable strap that gives you three different lengths. It’s made from soft and smooth leather with an elegant gold clasp for an accessory that feels both modern and classic.

As far as the size goes, it’s not too bulky, nor too petite. It will surely fit your essentials—phone, wallet, keys, and a few extras—without looking like you’re lugging around a messenger bag.

You can even make this bag truly your own by monogramming it! This would make it such a thoughtful gift from Sézane for your favorite Francophile.

The Milo Bag effortlessly elevates any look, whether you’re dressing up or going casual—a true staple in any French-inspired wardrobe. Pair it with the Scott Trench for a classic Parisian vibe, or sling it crossbody with jeans and a tee for that laid-back, laissez-faire look.

10. Paula Babies

The Paula Mary Janes (or babies as they’re called in French) are the ultimate French girl shoe. These retro-inspired, low-heeled beauties are as comfortable as they are chic. The chunky heel makes them ideal for walking, and they give every outfit a little coquette flair.

One of Sézane’s best-sellers, their Paula Babies also come in so many gorgeous colors and patterns, whether you prefer a pop of patent red or a classic cap-toes to complete your French-inspired looks.

Pair them with cropped jeans or skirts to let these shoes stand out. And with the holiday season coming up, they’re the perfect pick for all your festive soirées! I know I’ll be reaching for these Mary Janes for Christmas parties—and maybe even New Year’s.

Price: $215 | Features: 100% smooth ovine leather, made in Portugal

Is Sézane Worth It?

So, is Sézane worth it? In my experience, absolutely. Almost every piece I’ve picked up has a level of craftsmanship that’s rare to find in more affordable to mid-range brands.

The materials feel high quality, the cuts are classic, and the fit is exceptional. Beyond that, Sézane’s commitment to eco-friendly practices makes me feel good about supporting them. These pieces may come with a higher price tag than fast fashion brands, but they’re investments that will last season after season.

That being said, I would never say that everything is worth spending on. As with any brand, be selective—just because it’s Sézane doesn’t mean it’s a must-have. But most of the time, their collections are consistently impressive, and you will have an easier time finding quality items than with other brands.

If you’re ever visiting Paris, I would say it’s definitely worth visiting one of Sézane’s appartements in the city! You’ll see firsthand which pieces are perfect for you.

I visited their Left Bank location last summer. It was quite busy, so be sure to go earlier if you want a calmer experience (as with most things in Paris). But it’s certainly worth the trip, especially since prices are generally lower than in the U.S.
