Book (also here) / Porcelain Christmas Tree / Wreath / Candle / Snowflake Ornaments

Silver Candlesticks / Blanket / Glass / Garland / Pillow

With October behind us, I’m starting on my holiday decorating. This year, I’m decorating lightly. Since I’m traveling to the U.S. for Christmas, I’ll be away from my apartment in Vienna for a few weeks in December. I’m keeping it simple this year with a few bits and bobs since I just can’t help but get into the holiday spirit.

My favorite winter color for is evergreen. It’s seasonal, yet sophisticated. A wonderful way to add some of this color to your space is with a wreath. Of course, an evergreen wreath is classic, but I prefer this one from Anthropologie. You can also buy fresh wreaths from local vendors (although they won’t stay fresh for as long). Another evergreen decoration for the holidays is this fir-scented candle. It looks incredibly chic and the fragrance will surely set the holiday mood.

A warm blanket and some festive pillows are the cozy details you need to add to your space. I usually avoid decorative throw pillows since they can sometimes look kitsch. However, I’m obsessed with this embroidered one. It’s subtle, but will still make your couch a little merrier. H&M is my go-to for affordable throw blankets. I love this cream-colored one that would look chic casually tossed on an armchair.

To trim the tree, ornaments are essential. Since I reuse my ornaments every year, I’m not buying too many this season. However, these snowflake ones would look beautiful on any tree. Garland is another simple way to decorate your Christmas tree. I love this dark green one from H&M. You could also hang these across your mantle or windows for some extra color. Since I won’t be buying a tree for my apartment this year, I plan to hang this garland on my window sill.

If you want to spice up your coffee table, this Winter Homes book would make a lovely addition. The cover of this book is already beautiful, but the homes illustrated inside are also fun to flip through. You also can’t go wrong with some small figurines like this porcelain Christmas tree. I love the minimalist design, and it comes it green. Tall candlesticks like these silver ones are another festive addition.
